HUNTER BEATTIE

Hunter Beattie was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and grew up following his father’s medical career through Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, and NYU. In January 2022, Hunter founded Endswell: A Modern Funeral Home, one of only 30 aquamation facilities in the country, to offer this gentle, eco-conscious alternative to cremation. Endswell offers green burial, low-emission cremation, and aquamation, along with concierge-level service and transparent pricing. In 2022, he also founded Farewell Earth, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing resources on end-of-life planning, sustainable funeral practices, and reclaiming meaningful rituals.

Endswell expanded to Durham in 2024, and in 2025, Hunter launched Funeraria Carolina, a bilingual funeral home focused on meeting the needs of North Carolina’s Latino community. Through Endswell and Farewell Earth, Hunter is working to reimagine funeral care, making it more personal, more sustainable, and more supportive of the living. He continues to offer educational workshops, grief groups, and community programming to help people engage openly and honestly with death, dying, and remembrance.
